General Form
Press Form
All applicants residing in the United States who wish to travel to Algeria may need a visa issued by the Consular section of the Embassy of Algeria in Washington DC if you currently reside within our constituency which includes the District of Columbia, and the States of North Carolina, South Carolina, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia, West Virginia. Holders of Diplomatic and Official passport may submit their request to our Office. Residents of all other States must apply through our Consulate General in New-York, please visit:

Important information:
- Processing time: The average processing time for visas is about 5-8 business days, depending on the applicant's nationality.
- Drop off hours are from 09.00-13.00 Mon-Thu.
- When the visa is ready, applicants may retrieve their passports at the visa office of the Embassy during normal business hours between 09.00-13.00 and 14.00-16.00 Mon-Thu.
- Rush fees are not applicable.
- In case of minors, one of the parents must submit the visa application on their in behalf along with an authorization to travel abroad signed by both parents that must be authenticated by a Notary Public.
- Some nationalities may require proof of travel insurance, please contact us for more information
- The Consular office will evaluate the documents submitted and may request additional ones at its discretion. Furthermore, be aware that submitting the required documentation does not guarantee the issuance of a visa.
Visa Requirements:
- A valid passport with six months of validity.
- Two completed application forms typed online, the signature must be original on both forms except for the press visa.
- Two passport pictures with white background.
- Copy of an airline itinerary

Press Visa
Members of the media applying for a press visa are required to submit in support of their application a letter from their employment requesting a press visa (accreditation) on their behalf.

Work Visa

- Work contract
- Detailed list of foreign workers
- Temporary work authorization
- Commitment of repatriation

Medical Visa
- Letter of Financial support for medical care issued the relevant medical establishment in Algeria.
- Hotel reservation or other lodging arrangements.
- Evidence of financial means for the duration of stay.

Transit Visa
A transit visa is issued for a maximum of seven days.
- Valid visa or passport of the country of final destination.

Student Visa
- Enrollment letter from a school, institute or university accredited by the Algerian authorities.
- Proof of financial support.

Diplomatic and Official Visa
- An official diplomatic letter.
- As a courtesy between nations, diplomatic or official visas are waived of visa fees.

Business Visa
- Letter of invitation of your host company in Algeria.
- Company's letter explaining the nature of business to be performed and full financial support.

Tourism Visa
A hotel reservation with:
- A letter of confirmation from a travel agency or
- An invitation letter signed and legalized at a local city hall from your host in Algeria with a copie of his/her ID.

- Invitation letter signed and legalized at a local city hall from your family in Algeria or for spouses and children of Algerian nationals living abroad, a copy of his/her Consular Card.

The cultural visa is issued to the applicant holding an invitation to a seminar or to a cultural, scientific or sport event and showing an evidence of financial means for the duration of the stay
